The Center for Natural History Collections at New Mexico State University will:
- Preserve
- Protect
- Enhance

- Document the natural history collections at New Mexico State University
- Enhanced collection-based research abilities in the natural sciences
- Enhanced storage and maintenance of voucher specimens for ongoing and past research
- Enhanced diagnostic and identification services for other researchers and the general public
- Enhanced teaching in the natural sciences
- Enhanced outreach to public schools, private schools, home schoolers, and the general public
